Squash blossom

by Stephanie Suesan Smith, Ph.D. on October 26, 2011

Not to be outdone by okra, the squash also has a nice bloom.  Some people batter the squash flower and deep fry it before eating it.  Since only the female flowers bear fruit, I guess the male flowers are fair game after pollination. Sort of like the black widow spider or praying mantis eat their mates, only cross species.
