Lamb’s ear in bloom

by Stephanie Suesan Smith, Ph.D. on June 14, 2011

Lamb’s ear is an herb used chiefly, as far as I can tell, to let kids feel the leaves and oh and ah over how soft they are.  Here is a big patch with some blooms.

This makes me want to jump in the middle of this. I love how lamb’s ear feels like. I can picture the kids ooh’ing and ah’ing. Funny.

The kids love it. Good thing, it isn’t much use otherwise.

You just got to love how soft it is. Its kind of a picky plant though, has a lot of do’s and dont’s. The shade just has to be just right and no excess water. Hard to manage sometimes but its worth it for the kids enjoyment.
