Sharks are not the only fish that go into feeding frenzies. These koi were at the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens. In the Japanese Gardens, they have vending machines for fish pellets.
As my friend turned the handle, koi started coming from all over the rather large pond. They milled about, pushing and shoving to get the pellets as they were thrown out. We got to see lots of really pretty fish, but it was a bit eerie watching them come streaming in. Koi live a long time, sometimes 80 years. I guess these, being protected as they were, had learned that the sound of the vending machines meant dinner. I was surprised they could hear a sound in the air from as far away as they did.
